"taking a break"

Question Posted Sunday November 9 2008, 6:35 pm

what exactly does it mean when someone says they're on a break with their boyfriend/girflriend? also is it a bad thing to do something with a boy who is on a break with his girlfriend? he said that they've been fighting alot and that they just need a break, and they will see what goes on from there. i just don't exactly know what people mean when they say on a break. does it mean he can do what he wants? or is it like he is still going out with her.

That is more or less what it means. Basically, when you get into a fight or people are just making fun of the relationship you're in and things of that nature, you feel like as if you just want to break away from it all and just spend some time with yourself and no need to worry about anybody for a while until you feel ready to get back into the relationship or not.

When you're on the break, you spend time time thinking as to where you think the relationship is going and whether you think it's going well or not and see whether you think you can work out your differences.

The partners aren't allowed to do what they want because technically, they're still in a relationship so if anyone of them tries to do something which they shouldn't be doing, then that's a big indication that that partner wants the relationship over or doesn't take it as seriously.

I hope this helped,
