Metro PCS :]!

Okay so i was wondering,

is it possible to buy a phone
(specifacly a BlackBerry Pearl,)
with out contract,just the fone.
&
Then activate it with Metro PCS.?

Ive heard you can do this but im not sure.

PLEASE answer because im dying with out a phone right now.

well i heard that you can now. but i think it depends on what company the phone is from. i know you can do it with a verizon phone. but i dont know about cingular,t-mobile- or boost mobile.
