too much birth control?

Question Posted Saturday October 4 2008, 4:58 pm

17/f
I missed 2 days of my birth control (I take Lutera) and so I took 3 pills today at my scheduled time. I know I'm not uppose to take more than 2 but I didn't think it would matter that much...

Well I had my period, and it ended last sunday. An hour after taking the 3 pills I got my period {or at least some brownish clots w/ blood)

what does this mean? Did I mess up my body??? If I did is it severe? or is this seemingly normal??????????? I have no idea! I can't go to the gyno, my mom doesn't know I'm on bc

Birth control is hormones. Your body can do strange things when your hormones get out wack, (which is what happened when you took three pills.)

Once before, I lost a BC pill, [dropped it] and I had no clue what to do, so I just continued taking it like normal. I also started bleeding in like, the middle of my pack. I went to the health clinic, and they told me it was called "break-through bleeding" They didn't really do anything about it, except for giving me an STD and pregnancy test. (Which can also be two factors that cause irregular bleeding) You really need to go the health clinic. You don't have to go with your mom. You can get a friend or someone to take you.

If you absolutely cannot go to the health clinic, take your pills like normal, and just deal with the period. Be sure to get back on track on your next pack, and use a backup method of birth control this month.
