How can I get sponsored by Nike?

Question Posted Monday September 22 2008, 3:39 am

I live in upper Darby, PA and my dream is to be sponsored by Nike (the shoe company) in tennis (just like Michael Jordan was sponsored by Nike in basketball). I know Nike is pretty popular and I think it would be neat to be sponsored by Nike on the court, especially since I always wear Nike shoes. I am currently level 3.5 and I am 16 years old. I know I'm probably too young to be sponsored by Nike right now, but I want Nike to be interested in me later. Do I eventually have a shot at getting sponsored by Nike, and what do I need to do to make Nike look at me? What level should I be in for Nike to notice me? I train 3-6 hours every single day. I always wear Nike shoes on the court. I know I don't necessarily need to be world-famous yet for Nike to be interested in me because Michael Jordan wasn't when Nike started to sponsor him.

I will do anything so please help me make Nike interested in me!

Are you a pro tennis player? More than that, are you a pro tennis champ?

When it comes to sponsoring, companies want people that are just becoming recognizable by the general public. They want people who are successful in the sport that they're in and popular so that they can get their name worldwide.

So my advice is to keep playing and play as hard as you can. Once you go pro and start seeing your name in quite a few places, THAT'S when you should worry about how to get Nike to sponsor you.

cheers,
