how to clean my hair straightener

i just bought a new hair straightener today because my old one started to build with "grime" if you want to call it, and its happened before.
is there a way i can clean it after everytime i use it to prevent the build up? and what can i use, i heard rubbing alcohol but i dont know if that will ruin it.

i really am not sure what you're talking about.. i've had my hair straightener for 2 years and it's never gotten grime? i use the conair wet to dry straightener..
maybe you shouldn't use anything on your hair before you straighten, like hair spray or anything.
you might want to ask a public question, i'm sorry.
