2 periods in one month? Any help?

Question Posted Thursday July 24 2008, 11:36 pm

Ok so I usually have my period start sometime around the 22nd to the 25th at the end of every month. So this last month I had it REALLY late and it started the 8th of July. I started taking birht control on the 13th and it is now the 24th and its really weird because I'm bleeding... Am I having my usual period or is it just spotting from the pills? It's very light and it has been goin on for a few hours now. If it is spotting how long does spotting last? Any help would be great! Thanks!

I had that happen to me too when i started on birth control. your body just has to get used to it. it took me like a couple months to get like completly regular and back to normal....it shouldnt be anything to worry about other than its just annoying....but once your body is used to the birth control its a lot better.

Most likely you are having spotting because of the pill, however, taking the pill also causes extra periods. This is most likely fine and not a problem, but if it continues I would consult a doctor. This normally happens if you miss a pill or two or aren't taking them around the same time, so make sure you're taking the pill every day at the same time or as close to the same time as possible.

Spotting varies from person to person in amount of time it lasts. If you aren't missing pills and it's still happening it probably won't be too long, maybe a couple months at most. I know that by the second year you aren't supposed to have periods or you get really short ones.
