That'll give you a video file that you can take clips from at will.
If the video is shown on TV, you can also use a TV tuner card to receive video from your TV, or you could get a DVD player+burner to burn the video to a disk.
Because of the way Bittorrent works, downloading a copyrighted video from Bittorrent is probably illegal, even if you own it. Removing copy protection from a DVD you own is not illegal. Ripping shows from TV isn't illegal, but you can't give or sell the recording to anyone.
You can only legally put the video on Youtube etc. if you're using it for commentary, criticism, or parody, and your use doesn't replace the original work(i.e. someone isn't able to just watch your video instead). [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]
