I had my tongue pierced when I was thirteen or fourteen i believe, and it was cool because everyone else had one, i took mine out like a week or two later thought.

Your mom may have a different outlook on piercings, Some parents are very aganist them.
If you really want it, Convince her. =)

I'm sure the swelling goes away in a couple of days.
The pain depends on the person.

Hope this helps.

I'm sorry, but this probably won't answer your question the way you want me to.

I'll answer number 1 last.

#2. It's pretty different. You'll end up having a lisp for a long time... until you get used to having it there. One of my friends has had hers in for what seems like an eternity and she still has a lisp.
#3. It didn't take hers too long for the swelling and pain to go away. A week or two, maybe. This really depends on the person, who does it, where at, etc.

Honestly, you coudl easily google the answers to your 2nd & third question.

As for convincing your mom... I'll tell you some ways, but know that in the end, if she wants to say no, then she will. And, if you respect her decision to say no, she may end up thinking how mature & responsible you are and be willing to let you do it for maybe your 16th birthday or something (sorry, but 14 is young for a tongue piercing and sometimes comes across as kind of trashy).
IF THESE ARE TRUE, YOU CAN USE THEM:
1. You're a responsible young adult.
2. They don't look trashy on someone who doesn't make them look trashy. (someone pretty, respectful, responsible, etc.)
3. Would you rather a tongue ring or a baby? (just kidding. that would get you in trouble, probably)

All in all, you should really talk to her like a responsible adult. Explain all of the reasons you want one, and listen to why she doesn't want you to have one.
If you even once say "everyone has it" then you have completely ruined your chances.
Compromise with her. Tell her you'll pay for it and you'll even wait until your 15th or 16th birthday if she'll just let you get one (it's better than waiting until 18 to get it on your own).
And while we all know that there are some trashy piercing places that don't care about age, please refrain from going to one. You'll just prove your immaturity. If you can be responsible and accept her "no", then you'll prove your maturity & even if she won't let you get your tongue done, she may give you more freedoms.
