Well i have a wrt54g linksys wireless router. And it is maybe a few months old. My question is why does the password not work. It's never been changed from default. And when i try all the possible defaults it comes up with nothing.
Defaults

Pass :

Pass : admin

Pass : password
The website says it's admin admin. But it still is n't working.
I know holding the reset button down for 30 seconds should set it back to factory settings but ive tried that.
Maybe i need a new framwire (dont know what it is but ive read that you might need to update it or something.)
So basically i am completely lost. Ive been trying for a while and it just won't budge. If anyone has anything helpful id appreciate it.
Additional info, added Sunday July 6 2008, 11:57 am: *Edit*

ChevyIINova answered Sunday July 6 2008, 4:35 am: The ID field should be left blank and admin for the password, so that should have worked and yes, resetting the router should have worked too. Is it giving you an error message or is the page coming up blank? What browser are you using? If you are using Firefox with the "no script" add-on, make sure to allow scripts on the page or turn it off.
Wanted to add to, be sure you are resetting the router correctly. Sometimes a pen will reach the reset button. You'll know it's being reset when the lights flicker or they'll all come on for a second. After the lights flicker or blink start counting from there while holding the button in.

I was only agreeing with you. Next time read the rest. Did you not read? I'm also CCNA and N+ certified and have seen this problem more than once. If you would have read the rest you might have gained some useful information. Anyway, I filed an abuse report.

Obviously you didn't reset it correctly. It is still set to factory. If you did it correctly you wouldn't have that problem. I'm sorry you are an idiot.
Honestly I don't mind helping you out and I am still willing to help you out. I understand this has got to be getting on your last nerve BUT understand this is what I do for a living and even though you've stated you've tried this and that already, I still have to ask. I deal with idiots everyday, who couldn't located the space bar to save their lives. I'm not calling you an idiot because your question seems like you've put an effort into figuring out what the problem is. It's not my purpose here to be some big bad Internet asshole, my purpose here is to help. Obviously, if you've followed the manual and have heeded the advice it may be due to the fact the router is actually bad. So if you are willing to start out fresh, I am too. I'll be more than happy to troubleshoot your router. If something I state you've already done, then fine, say so. You are more than welcome to start a thread on my message board located on this site. It's located here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Like I said before I want to help, so give me the opportunity to do so. Have a great day! [ ChevyIINova's advice column | Ask ChevyIINova A Question ]
