voice lessons

Question Posted Thursday July 3 2008, 11:27 am

I go to these voice lessons and i'm one of 7. I don't think i'm a bad singer but i don't like people hearing me. if i'm in the basebent singing with music, i can't without anyway, if i'm in the basement singing and someone comes down i amediatly startsinging really bad on purpose and make it sound funny. How can i get over not singing in front of people. ALso, my sister and brother constantly make fun of me for everything, is that part of the reason i don't like to sing in front of them. I want to do these voice lessons but whats the point if i can't sing infront of people?

The fact that your brother and sister make fun of you might actually have a lot to do with the fact that you are uncomfortable singing in front of others. It may make you think that no matter hwo good or bad you sing, they will just make fun of your for it, and that would make your very self consceince about it. Try singing without music. I know you said you couldnt, but you have to try! it will help! It will make you get to know your voice much better, and once you do that, youll feel more comfortable knowing others can hear it too. You also may want to talk to your siblings about how their teasing makes you feel. I know that sounds cheesy, but chances are they thought you were having fun with them too. Practice singing in front of the mirror, and anyone you can, maybe a close friend or parent, work your way up!

Good Luck
