Why is it that guys think that girls want nice jewlery or that they have to buy them it? I dated 2 guys who insisted they wanted to buy me nice neclaces but I'm not really into that kind of stuff and neither of the guys had the type of personalities where they would want to do that.

I wouldn't get that upset if a guy ever gives you a nice piece of jewelry for your birthday or something. He's only trying to be nice- remember the phrase "It's the thought that counts"? Keep that in mind. If it really bothers you, when a holiday or something rolls around that calls for gift-giving, casually drop hints at a gift that you really would like- hopefully your guy will pick up on your hints, and then he'll fill good that he got to make you happy, while you'll feel good that you got something that you actually liked. Good luck! :] [ snickerzz11's advice column | Ask snickerzz11 A Question ]
jobrolover3725 answered Friday June 27 2008, 11:30 pm: i know how you feel. this guy that wanted to ask me out apparently bought me a $1200 diamond necklace, i'm only 16 btw! like jeez. from what he explained, he really wanted to impress me and he liked me a lot so he wanted to get me something nice. something to remember him by. basically, he just wanted to top any other guy i've ever been with. so that is pretty much why guys feel that they need to buy girls nice jewlery.

Also, girls are always talking about their jewelry and how much they love it and "need" it. So guys hear that and think it's the perfect gift.
I wouldn't take offense to it, they are just trying to be nice. If you don't want jewelry, just let them know, and they won't buy it for you anymore.
Commercials like "He went to JARED!" don't help, either ;]
