Say it's the people you hang around,
they are most likely bringing you down.
So instead of going to the normal hang out place,
try something new. It can be anywhere.
Everybody is always looking for a new friend.
Just most importantly be yourself,
and hang out with the people who will
appreciate what you like and what you do.
Which is why you should make your new
hangout place, somewhere you will enjoy.
Job, if you don't have a special job
that you went to college for, just some
small thing, quit it with a good excuse.
And find one you will actually enjoy.
Do NOT worry about money.
But most importantly,
through your journey,
you need to find happiness.
Understand that you are improving.
I know meditation probably sounds lame,
but it really works.
When I meditate I calm down and
I don't have a worry on my mind.
Even the problems I had before that seemed
big, are just gone for me.
Thietyp answered Sunday June 8 2008, 6:08 pm: I'd say it's a bit harder to do that in a modern society. When I think of detaching yourself from all things - I think of becoming completely self-reliant. Get rid of your possessions, quit your job, make your own food.
I spent a long time living between parks and cars. Diving for food then cooking it with whatever means I had. It can be really liberating, I had a lot of fun for quite some time. But even at that point you're reliant on others - if the bakery closed down, I wouldn't have anything to eat until I found some other place. If the police found me in the park, I get a fine - then a warrant - then jail. If the parking lot i'm sleeping in has security guards - I get thrown out and have to find some other place to sleep. If people don't like my music enough, I don't get enough tips for gas to go someplace else. My tent rips and I freeze at night - And so on. There's always something to worry about, there's always something to be a slave to. Not to say you can't take steps to release some of the burden on your life - but you're never going to be detached from everything.
My advice is just to be able to do as much as you can for yourself and to stop caring about little things. If your iPod breaks, sing the songs yourself instead. [ Thietyp's advice column | Ask Thietyp A Question ]
