Marching Band confusion

Question Posted Friday June 6 2008, 1:51 am

This is mmy 2nd year in Marching band. I am in a different section and I know everybody in it. Most of my friends are in it and I loved it last year. But this year, I sort of feel like I don't fit in anymore or just going to band practice does not seem that great anymore. I just don't feel right being there anymore but a part of me wants to continue. What should I do??

Ha! I went through the exact thing, sort of a second-year-band-itus thing. Don't quit especially if you really liked it last year. If there's new people in the band, try being friends with them. But besides that, just keep talking to your friends and if you feel out of place, just do something crazy! If your marching band is anything like mine, then I know that they wouldn't want you to leave and that you are very important. Hope I helped.

your probably getting bored with it. i did marching band from 5th grade to middle of 8th, and then quit.

i still wanted to continue, because playing was really fun! but it had just gotten old since i started, so i just quit. also, i was the only trumpet and everyone depended on me. and i dont do well under pressure.

why dont you try to focus on the music for a while more. wait it out a few weeks. and if you still feel this way, just ask your conductor if you can take a few days to yourself. make up an excuse like you're getting a cold. and if you STILL feel like this, then just quit. theres no reason you should still be in it if your not enjoying it like you used to.

i hope it all works out! :)
