Braces.

Question Posted Saturday May 3 2008, 11:58 am

Okay, so I just got braces on the other day. I really want to have the whitest, cleanest teeth possible with these braces. I've been brushing after every meal, and flossing too. I want to know everything about everything to do with keeping my braces and teeth clean. How should I brush? How often? Also, on my bottom front teeth, behind like 3 of them, it's really kind of yellow and then one or two of them has like, this white outline that looks like food. I've been brushing there for the past 3 days but it's not going away. What is this?? Will brushing make it go away soon?

Okay, so I've had braces for a while and let me tell you a couple of things.

First off, I brush like three times a day. I make sure I get rid of any "gunk" that could be in my teeth. Flossing is good too. There are also special brushes that are made to clean between the braces wire and the teeth. Ask your orthadontist about that.

But, it's really hard to keep them white. Everyone gets a little yellow tinge with braces because a tooth brush can't reach everywhere.

Don't worry. Just keep them clean and they will be fine.

The brushing method that is most effective is to brush in little circles. brushing after every meal is a smart move so food doesnt build up. that could be plaque. brushing can make that go away usually. point it out to your dentist next time you go. oh and you didnt ask but crest vivid white toothpaste is amazing in my oppinion. hope i helped!
