A professional piercing studio/tattoo parlor will NEVER pierce anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or any other type of illegal substance. It makes it unsafe for them to do so and they don't want to be liable if something bad happened.

They'll send you packing and won't even consider re-scheduling you for later. There's a zero tolerance policy on that as well as a chicken out fee applied if you make an appointment, show up and then tell them you had a change of heart. Know that this piercing is what you really, really want.

Will it hurt? Well in a nutshell yes. They are using a clamp on your tongue and then driving a clean needle through it before attaching jewels you chose to it. It will hurt but we can't tell you how much because everyone experiences pain differently and has either a high threshold or a low one. What hurts like hell to you may not to me and vice-versa. I am told however, that this one doesn't hurt half as bad as others do.

Here is a link you need to see/read before going through with this. This first one tells you what you need to do when choosing a shop to pierce you, what happens there etc. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

When you call the studio tell them it's something you were thinking of having done but before you commit to it would like more information on that kind of piercing, what to expect and perhaps watch one being done on another customer. They're more than happy to consult with you and provide all kinds of information as they don't want to try piercing anyone who shouldn't be or isn't a good candidate for it.

The other thing you need to know is even if you want the piercing and book an appointment doesn't mean you'll get it done. In some cases with this and other piercings they require your parents to sign off on it if you are under 18.

It also goes without saying don't let anyone you know try to do this to you by themselves with a piercing gun or any other way. A lot of people do this and wind up in bad shape for trying to improvise.

Getting high will probably affect you really bad and say that u did get high it probably wouldn't hurt but after it passes it hurts even worse. I recomend you don't do it cause you can't eat or drink for like 4 days and it's dangerous cause it can get infected. So make a decision!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
