ChevyIINova answered Monday April 21 2008, 3:26 am: Yes, this is confusing to say the least. I'm not sure if I get what you've done, let alone the operating system (OS) you are running. Sounds like you've may have used "restore point" found in Windows XP. Restore points don't fix everything. If you are able to access your data back it up IMMEDIATELY using, preferable another hard drive and if you don't have another drive such as a backup hard drive, USB drive or external hard drive, use a CD/DVD writer.
If you are unable to access the drive there's hope still. You can install another hard drive, (may require buying another hard drive) install the OS on the new drive, then the one that has the problem, set it to slave and then try accessing the slave drive when the OS loads up.
There's also a few free software recovery tools out there but from past experiences they are pretty much worthless and the paid ones that are decent quite expensive. There's other ways to get that data but may require some cash and expert help. [ ChevyIINova's advice column | Ask ChevyIINova A Question ]
