about london/england in general.

Question Posted Saturday March 29 2008, 3:50 pm

hi, i'm the one that asked a question you answered about the raincoats, haha. i saw you're living in the UK, so i just thought i'd ask a few other questions if you don't mind.

is it really as rainy there as people say? my mom went when she graduated college (but that was in like, 85 or so, haha) and she said it rained everyday she was there. how is the weather in mid-april? and what temperatures should i/our group expect?

and what are some attractions that we should definitely see? we're going to all the big places, but are there any other cool places that aren't as popular that you'd recommend, or anything special we should do? and i'm a really picky eater... is the food there like the US at all?

any tips or anything like that would be great. i've tried to do some research, but it's all from a trvel agent's standpoint and i don't really want that. i want to find some answers with people with some experience of being there (: thanks in advance!

Heya :)

It does tend to rain quite abit but I wouldn't say it rains every day, and the rain we have doesn't tend to last for very long either, normally very short burst of rain - I live near the central part of England and we had a lovely sunny day today! We are well known for having crazy unstable weather especially around this time going into spring - so I would be prepared for everything lol. Temperature depends on the weather but in general its cold/mild, very much jeans and jumper/jacket weather. If you want a good indicator have a look at BBC weather reports on the internet a week or so before you go as they tend to be very useful!

As for attractions, London is a very touristy place - you are bound to find lots of things to do! I would reccomend going to see a show at one of the theatres - this is what I did when I went to London and had a really good time - The Lion King is very good! But there are always lots on and many ticket booths around the city sell them. There are many markets and attractions like the London dungeons and wax works, there are a few theme parks too (but the ones in the USA are much better lol!) There are also some famous shops like Hamleys (toy shop) and Oxford street (but can be quite expensive). As for food - I'm a very fussy eater aswell but generally can always find something to eat on a menu in a restaurant/cafe - we have lots of foriegn cuisine places that do chinese/indian/thai/italian/french/spanish and many fast food places - I'm sure you will be fine with food! :)

If you have anymore questions feel free to message me! :)
