I was wondering,what is scientology?And why are a lot of celebrities involved with it (like Tom Cruise)?I hear stuff in the news about it and on gossip sites like Perez Hilton.Any information would be appreciated =]

Scientology is a dangerous cult that uses a very effective brainwashing strategy to get people to join and stay in it. It breaks apart families, manipulates the government, and even kills people.

They don't actually learn the ridiculous story that their faith is based on until they spend years and hundreds of thousands of dollars on the cult. By that time they are completely brainwashed and locked in.
Scientologists give out free personality tests. When you take the test, they tell you that you're seriously messed up, and they offer you a cheap self-help course. These self-help courses actually work, so people have good reason to take more. There are dozens of courses, and they get gradually more expensive and less useful. Once it starts to get really crazy, people are so committed and brainwashed they rarely leave.
Because celebrities have a lot of influence, Scientology puts a lot of effort into recruiting them.
