Is it possible to transfer songs from iTunes onto an mp3 player that is not an iPod? If yes, howso?

Yes, the ones that are saved in a different file but are still on your itunes can be copy + pasted over, but you cant copy them directly from iTunes. Eg. if you have a folder full of music files, pick the ones you want, and copy them into the file that comeds up from the MP3 player....=]
