I am 14 and i am a car freak while haven driven a couple high performance cars and have done some work with them.
Since porshe is such a high tec and have the technology to beat out the veyron how come the porshe Carrara GT is not a veyron type competitor they let the CCX beat them out. What is the deal do they have something up there sleeve or are they scared of failure what is going on. I have high hopes for porshe but why are they holding back from the big picture. They have a very nice V12 to work with and improve why aren't they doing it.

god-smusgrove answered Sunday March 16 2008, 11:40 am: that's because porshe has class, and likes to appeal to more people. some porshes start out for as much as corvettes.
all companies have the potential to make a super car.
ex.
in 1995 ford had an edge at creating a 10.0L boss mustang that has the ability to go from 0-60 in 1.8 sec. however, the vehicle would have cost 50-60 thousand dollars. nobody would pay that much for a mustang, so they cut the litres in half and beefed the suspension and overall handling instead.
porshe wants more people to buy their cars, so they keep them "retarted," meaning that they don't do much to them. sure with a turbo here and there, they could outrun a veyron. but what's that prove? normal people don't drive those cars, due to liability, and duh, cost.
the carrara gt isn't that bad actually, it's got 605 hp and a V10 engine, without a turbo or super charger. i'll bet you install one or the other you can out run 70% of all exotics if you put a turbo on it.
"they have a very nice V12 to work with and improve, why aren't they doing it?"
In today's standards, loud throaty V12's are frowned upon, due to the anal retentive government and hippis. that might be another reason.
any of the above are susceptable reasons. just remember, porshe is a company of class, their not going to boast about what they're going to do next, which makes them unpredictable. [ god-smusgrove's advice column | Ask god-smusgrove A Question ]
