Yellow hair

Question Posted Saturday March 15 2008, 12:51 pm

Heyy wel i have naturally dark blondy kinda hair and i used to home dye it brunnette for about two years and then i decided i wanted to go blonde, like have the majority of my hair highlighted to white blonde but with a few dark undertones.. like natural 'beach' blonde

And so i went to a salon and it was a cheap place so it lookd crap and i dyed it brown again.. Then i thought id try again and i tried a few home dying kits which lightened my hair but still wouldnt go baby blonde.. It went a mildish yellow but looks okay but doesnt suit my pale skin tone.. so i tried getting it highlighted again and it looked great, except it washed out and faded within the first few washes..

And i asked an expert about it and they said that the colour wont stay because of the residue from all the other times iv dyed it, liek the warmness of the brown makes it go yellow..

.. so i was wondering would it be best to strip my hair completely of the history of its colour and then get baby blonde highlights on my natural colour...
or just keep highlighting on top of it and find a really good blonde shampoo?

thankyouuu xxxx :D

Stop re-dying your hair! It will damage it and make it even harder to get rid of the color.

Yes, it's true that the color won't stay if you'd dyed it too many times. The older colors will begin to show up again over time.

Your highlights probably didn't stay because you washed it too much. In general, you're not supposed to wash your hair everyday because it strips your hair of its natural moisture and makes it more prone to damage. Especially when your hair is colored/highlighted, you really can't wash it that often. Make sure you use shampoos made specially for color treated hair so the color doesn't fade.

In order to achieve baby blonde, or extremely light blonde hair, it has to be bleached. I highly suggest you do NOT do this on your own. Going to a cheap place was your first mistake, they generally aren't the best or very trustworthy.

If I were you, I'd take as best care of my hair as I can for now. Keep your hair away from heat damage (blow-dryers, straighteners, curlers) because it'll just fry your hair more. Deep condition your hair to get the moisture back, and don't wash it too much. In the meantime, save up some money and go to a nice, professional salon where you can actually trust the people. It's helpful to read some reviews on a good salon to see what kind of experiences others had.

GOOD LUCK!!!!<3
