if you're really set on going, you can do a few things:
-ask your parents for SOME of the money. Make sure you let them know you are going to pay them back, and actually do it.!
-do chores around the house for money, if you can't go and get a job. Ask neighbors if they have anything you can do for them. If your grandparents, or other older relatives live near you, ask if you can help them out.
- if you REALLY REALLY want to go, sell some of your stuff. Make sure it isn't too important to you.

Even if the plane tickets cost $500, you need to think about other expenses, too. Food, board, all that stuff- it costs a lot in california. (this is coming from someone who has lived in the state her whole life)

Good luck- & if you end up getting out here, have fun. :]
