tanning?

Question Posted Wednesday February 13 2008, 6:42 pm

alrigh so im a sophmore and ive been tanning for about a year. i LOVE being tan because i look so much better and my skin looks so much healthier looking.. ive heard all the dangers and what not but it never really hit me till my moms friends daughter who is ONLY 24, got skin cancer from tanning a lot.. she had to get a freaking chunk cut outta her leg and now she cant even be out in the sun anymore! now i really want to stop tanning because i dont want this to happen to me, but i cant stand being pale! what can i do to keep myself tan? also can i use the tanning beds while using sunscreen and still get tan, without it harming me so much?????

girl, i totally know what you mean.
i HATE being pale, its depressing and i look horrible.
you have a couple options.
one it that you can go get spray tans, which are pretty good. i know this girl who works there and she gets free spray tans and they look pretty good. she works at holly wood tans. normally there like 10-18 dollars for a week or two for being tan.

you can also do a at home tanner, which is what i do. i use bannaboat sun dial or aveeno sun dial (you can control how tan you want to be). i love it. it looks so much better then all the other fake tanners out there. there like 10 to 15 dollars depending where you get it. i normally get mine for around 12 dollars at like walmart or some store like that.
make sure before you doing any type of tanning whether it spray or lotion, you exfoliate real good because you can look soo blotchy and bad if you dont (trust me im like the queen of fake tanners).

and try some bronzer too. it makes you looks tanner. i use like marykate and ashley bronzer. its like 3 dollars and works soo good. it also comes with like a "sunkissed" lipgloss. :]

ooh. and they have this stuff that you use in the summer. like after your tanning you put it on (its like a lotion) and it makes your tanner healthier and stuff. and its suppose to like emphasize it and make it last longer. so maybe that will make you tan last longer. i forget the name, but you can find it like, in a place ment for bathing suits/tanning. i think its like from some Australia company or something with the kula bear. ahah.

best of luckk :)

hope i helpedd.

well, getting in a tanning bed or even being outside at all (no matter what kind of sunscreen you use) is always going to be "dangerous"... it's just less dangerous if you use sunscreen and don't overdo it the tanning. there's not really a way to be completely safe, besides staying inside all of the time... and nobody wants to do that. i'd advise you to quit going to the tanning bed. there are sunless tanning lotions (that work really well) and sprays (that don't work too well on me). try jergen's natural glow, and i believe neutrogena has a special formula for faces. it's a moisturizing lotion that you use as often as you want, and it gradually darkens your skin. and no chance of skin cancer. it really does work. last year, i didn't tan at all- i just used the lotion and i was even more tan than i would have been if i had baked in the sun. and this may work for you too, but drinking a lot of water makes my skin look healthier. you might want to try it too, if you don't already.
