Yesterday I started tanning , btw I'm 15 female. I have a semi-formal on friday so I tanned yesterday, today and will continue untill friday. I will stop after that and maybe go a couple weeks before summer but I'm not sure yet. I've heard about skin cancers and such but is it true ? And If i go only this week can that effect my heath? I'm really worried I'm such a healthy person and a comlete freak about this stuff. Should I just stop? Do you know anyone who has gotten skin cancer from tanning?? Thanks in advance !
Spray tanning is great! Go buy a body scrub (I find mine at Wal-Mart) scrub your skin real well and try a spray tan and a daily moisturizer with a self tanner (I perfer Aveeno or Jergens). I tan in the UV beds and suppliment that with spray tan and the daily moisturizer so I don't feel the need to UV tan more frequently and I get an intant tan when I need one!
I don't know that you should just stop but you do need to be aware of the dangers and check your skin for unusual marks or wounds that will not heal. I hope this helps! [ Sari's advice column | Ask Sari A Question ]
Cherry_Blow_Pop answered Tuesday February 5 2008, 10:07 pm: Any amount of exposure to UV rays (such as those in tanning beds) can give you skin cancer. I do know someone who got skin cancer from tanning. It's a terrible thing to go through. I used to tan and ended up with spider veins because of it. It's not worth it in my opinion. Now I go for spray tans, it's much safer, and you get more color faster.

Spray tans don't look fake or orange if you do it in moderation. As soon as you start going crazy, getting them wayyy too often, then that's when they start to look fake. Same goes for normal tanning. There is a fine line between when it looks real, and when it looks orange lol. [ Cherry_Blow_Pop's advice column | Ask Cherry_Blow_Pop A Question ]
