If you have a true sinus infection they will
prescribe you amoxicillan or other antibiotic.
You cannot take it for everyday sinus problems.
If you do it will become ineffective or you can
build an immunity to it and become allergic to
it. You don't want to become allergic because
the substitutes are much more expensive.
I hate chronic sinus infections for years.
I was given amoxicillan over and over by
my doctor in an attempt to take care of it.
I eventually got hives when I took it. Yikes.
Surgery took care of my problem.
Sorry for the story, just don't take it
if you are just getting a sinus headache
or something. Sinus excedrin will do you
much more good. Save the antibiotics for
real problems. It has been over prescribed
in the past and now people are having real problems. :)
thank you so much! no the story was very informative :) how would i know if i have everyday sinus infections? also what exactly are sinus problems? i have headaches all the time and horrible allergies. i kind of dont take meds but i sometimes take singular now. doesnt seem to be working. zyrtec worked but i think it also contributed to my insomnia in a way and gave me extreme dry mouth. what kind of surgery did you get? what do they remove? haha so many questions. i really appreciate it!
you broke out in hives? is like random rashes on your body? bc i have random, dry, red spots everywhere on my arm :`(. its quite ugly. random patches more like. spots here and there.

Everyday sinus headaches usually go away or
ease up if you take something for them. I know
sometimes I would just wake up with one that
would go away after I was up for awhile. Other
times someone would wear a really strong perfume
or aftershave and give me a headache. I would
also get a headache just walking into the soap
aisle of the grocery store!
A sinus infection usually gives you a, for
lack of a better term, a face ache. Your
cheeks really hurt and no matter what it
just doesn't go away. Then you need to see
a doctor. Infections in your face are nothing
to mess with.
If you have allergies you may be having
headaches because of that too. They can
give you something to take daily for that.
If zyrtec didn't work they can try you on
something else. Clariton works pretty good.
I tried zyrtec and had the same problem.
It would keep me awake. The doctor said she
never heard of that it makes most people
sleepy. Not I! Not you either it sounds like. :)
The surgery I had was to see if I had
a blockage that was causing my sinus
infections. I'm not sure what it was
called but your doctor would know. Come
to find out I had at some time, probably
as a toddler, the doctor said, hit my nose
and had something in there shoved where
it shouldn't be. It was removed and my
sinuses opened a little and I have to say
a headache for me is rare these days.
So, if you find you have an infection,
and they keep coming back after taking
antibiotics, I highly recommend it. I
had a headache everyday for many years.
I know it is no fun at all!
Something else that may sound silly is
a thing I saw on oprah. The lady that
tried it said it worked wonders. I need
to find me one to try. It works great
for those with allergies. I will give
