bending the spine of the book? What does it mean when someone bends the spine of the book? Is it like when the side of the cover is white and crinkled and there's lines on it from opening the book too wide? Well i think that's what it's called.
I'm borrowing a friend's novel, how can i make sure i dont' ruin it?

Books only normally do that if they are paperback novels...but you can't really avoid it if it is. The paper automatically does it.

you really only have to worry about it if it's a paperback, but just don't open it too far and you will be okay. like, open it just enough so that you can read it comfortably. i've been in your situation too, and when i did that it worked for me. as long as you don't open it to the point where you are basically bending it as you read, you will be perfectly fine. ]
beind the spine is when you open it too far, or when you fold it back you know?
And just be sure to hold the book with both hands, and hold it so the book is horizontal. Don't open it too far. ]
