Boarding school.

Question Posted Saturday January 19 2008, 3:07 pm

How do I talk to my parents about wanting to go to boarding school in another country for my last two years of high school?

I'm geniunly miserable where I live right now and I was going to stick it out untill I finish school but I don't think I can.
I want to go back to the UK (which is where I was born) but my parents can't move back because of their business.

I'm very close to them but I want to talk to them about going to boarding school. How can I do this so they take me seriously and so that it doesn't turn into an argument? (any talks of going back to the UK usually end in an argument)

the best way to go about this would be to get yourself prepared. you have to have information of the schools you have considered going to. you will nedd info about the schools such as price lists. have a good argument about why you want to go, why it will be beneficial to you and your education to go, and why they should let you go. ask them to sit down and talk to you about this. if you have a good argument prepared, information about the school, and talk about everything in a respectful manner then you should be able to avoid an argument. good luck.

the easiest way would be to look up some schools you are interessted in and things about them. this way it will make it easier for your parents and when you put the info in front of them they can clearly see it.

also think about the reason you want to go, make them sound reasonable and not whinney.

ask them at a good time, when they aren't stressed or busy or upset

good luck
