some ideas that might help:
-try taking the pictures in black and white. this makes the picture not only look smoother and more flawless, but also more interesting.
-dont put yourself in the middle of the picture. it's more interesting if you are off to the side a bit.
-finally, try taking the pics from a different angle. for example, holding the camera above you and looking up. this angle usually makes people look really good.

hope these ideas help, and remember, your bf will love them no matter what

Well you could try not changing you, but the way you angle the camera or take the picture.

In Journalism class we learned different techniques.. here are some of them which can help make the picture look pretty cool:

1. Rule of Thirds. This means that you shouldn't have yourself smack-dab in the middle. Move the camera over so that you're to the right or left, but don't look outside of the picture.. meaning if you're on the right/left of the picture- look into the would-be center of the picture.. The picture is far more interesting ;].

2. Leading Lines. Leading lines are basically natural lines that exist that lead the eye to the center of interest, which happens to be you ;]. So like if you stood next to a staircase.. like at the bottom.. you would have the stairs be a leading line or something. This concept involves thinking of different creative ways of displaying the picture and center of interest ;].

3. Format change. Take the picture in black and white, sepia, or any other different format or style on the camera. Black and white pictures are a nice change from color pictures and they are far more interesting to look at ;].

4. Fill the frame. Basically what is says. If your picture has just a bunch of empty space- it gets really distracting and boring. Maybe get a close-up but still follow the rule of thirds thing.

With those four tips- you can really take a much more interesting and appealing picture to the eye without having to actually change your appearance.

If you want more tips- just say so in feedback- but make sure to look back at my edited answer ;].
