Technically, if you squint your eyes hard enough, it can be as good as water. After all, water is what makes it a drink in the first place, as opposed to powder. The difference being that you are getting less water in your system per drink.
I'm not extremely well versed in biology, but it would seem to me that your body will have to expend more energy separating the CL (Crystal Light)from the water once you drink it. Now I could be dead wrong about this, but I think that would be less efficient.
If you have a medical reason why you should be drinking plain water, by all means, do so. But if you are drinking water/CL just to sate your thirst, you should be fine.
I can't stand plain water either. However, when I have cottonmouth or feel dehydrated, plain water is and always has been the quickest cure. I try to get a glass of the coldest water I can. The colder the better. It masks the taste of the water by shutting down some of the nerve endings in your tongue due to the cold.... plus it feels dang good on a parched mouth.
