I am 15 and I heard the older you get the worse it hurts after you get your tonsils out. How much does it hurt for a teenager, and what do they do like before and after surgery

Maybe give some free advice about: Health? viciousxpunk answered Thursday December 27 2007, 5:14 pm: i had mine out when i was twelve, and i'm not sure if it hurts worse as you get older but i would think the pain level would stay the same. after the surgery your throat will hurt really bad and you won't be able to talk for a few days. you normally get crushed ice at the hospital for you to melt in your mouth. the back of your throat will feel really weird, kind of like cottage cheese. gross i know. you start with only beverages, and smoothies, ice cream, and pudding. you're supposed to stay in bed for 2-3 weeks, with little physical activity. after about a week and a half you can move to more solid foods like scrambled eggs and such. good luck. kristinenicole1 answered Thursday December 27 2007, 3:33 pm: I got mine taken out when I was 19 and it was the worst pain I have ever felt.
