GETTING MY LICENSE..THE DRIVERS TEST?

Question Posted Wednesday December 26 2007, 10:15 pm

I live in Tennessee and I'm getting my license. Well hoping to. My friends have told me that it's fairly easy and you drive in a circle for a few minutes. But can anyone tell me specifically what you do? If they talk to you and tell you to do anything? AHHH I'm freaking out! How long does it go on? Do you have to parallel park or anything? Please help me.

I live in Tennessee as well. I did not have to parallel park or anything when I took my drivers test. I'm not sure where you'll be taking it, but it might be the same as mine. I went in and filled out some paperwork then the lady sent me to the car with a piece of paper of things she would check. A few minutes later, she came out and had me show her the lights, blinkers, brake lights, emergency breaks, the wipers, windows, the horn, and things like that. Then she had me back out of the spot and she came and got into the car. We pulled out of the parking lot and the lady told me to turn left, then I drove down the road, made a right, drove down that road, turned right at a red light, got on the highway for a minute, then made a right at the next light and that put us back at the driver's place. It was extremely easy. It's really nothing to be nervous about. Just stay calm and you'll do great! Also, I found it helpful to talk to the lady in there. She asked me some questions about like where I went to school and stuff like that, and we just made small talk. She didn't ask me to do anything while I was driving, just told me where to turn.
I hope I helped some! Good luck on your test!

I live in NY, but im pretty sure it will mostly be the same. Here is how my driving test went:

- The instructor enters the car with a clipboard. You sign something, he gets his papers ready.
-he/shhe will then tell you to pull away from the side of the road when you are ready.

((**You should be sure to check your mirrors, look in the side mirror and the rearview mirror, put your blinker on, and begin to drive.**))

-The instructor will tell you where to turn. He or she might say "make the next right" . Just be sure to put your blinker on.
((**another tip: my drivers ed teacher always taught me to look in your rearview mirror while ur blinker is on. he says its because if someone is too close to you and tailgating you, to not make the turn**))

-Yes, tere will be a parallel park and a K turn. In NY there is, and im pretty sure all states would be similar.

- The instructor will tell you to make a K turn. You must be sure to put your signal on, stop the car, turn the wheel all the way after checking your mirrors to be sure nobody will be going around you. Before you back up, look to your right or left to be sure nobody is trying to go aroiund you once again, then proceeed to back up, and turn around.

**Basically, always check your mirrors, and BLINDSPOTS (you must do thihs by turnin your head)

basically just practice drivingg and pretend its your friend in the front seat. i was terribly nervous too, te instructor was prettyy cool and told me to relax.and i did excellent! almost perfect.

*thhey definitely talk to you..they tell you where to turn, when to parallel park and where, they tell you all the instructions..tey just dont tell you how . they observe, take notes, etc.

*always remember come to a full complete stop at stop signs.

**do nottt go over the speed limit on your driving test

** check your mirrors and blindspots, just shhow tem you are a good driver!
