What did you mean by thsi?

Question Posted Sunday December 23 2007, 7:02 pm

Hey, S_C here. I saw the you wrote this in Jack's forum and wanted to know what you meant by it; I've never heard anyone say this...

"Matt wrote Sunday December 23 2007, 3:00 am:
Christ is a title not a person."

I hope I'm not starting trouble by asking. You can answer this here, my forum, in a private question to me.. whatever.

Matt answered Sunday December 23 2007, 8:43 pm:
Christ basically translates to Messiah, as in Jesus being the Messiah in the Christian faith.

Jesus Christ is grouped together so often that people mistake Christ as being part of his actual name, like his last name. Last names didn't really exist 2000 years ago because they weren't needed. That's why no one says Mary Christ or Joseph Christ; because that's not part of their name, it's a title associated with the Messiah, Son of God, The Anointed One, and all of those other glorified terms.
