he forgot my birthday.

Question Posted Sunday December 9 2007, 12:29 pm

my boyfriend forgot my birthday. i expected not to get anything, i told him i didn't want anything. but i at least expected him to tell me "happy birthday." i really do love him, but i don't know what to do. this really hurt.

i'm definately going to confront him about it, but how harsh should i be? very harsh? just barely letting it go? should i give him another chance?

thanks in advance. (:

Maybe he didn't forget and he's planned a surprise for you.. or maybe he's had so much on his mind lately, he truly has forgot.
Don't be harsh. You don't know his reasons yet. Drop him hints. "Wow! I got _____ for my birthday!" Or you could even make a joke of it - "Thanks for wishing me happy birthday!"
... then see what he says.

i don't blame you for being upset. maybe when youre talking to him, slightly bring it up ... like when he asks how you are or whats up, say "nothing much .... just writing thank you notes for my birthday gifts." or be like "nothing, just opening birthday gifts." ya know? don't be too harsh towards him. hey, who knows, he could be planning a surprise for you!

So he totally just forgot? I would be really upset too. Just tell him that you didn't really expect a present, but you really wanted him to at least say happy birthday and spend a little time with you. See what he says and take it from there. If he has a lame excuse, I'd let him go.
