best friend/ boyfriend

Question Posted Friday November 23 2007, 8:28 pm

Hey so thees this guy i really like and umm. Well you see my best friend likes him too. But the rest of my friends say she should lay off because. I told her i liked him three weeks before she told me. So were not in a fight, fight. But were always on eachothers cases now. But were trying to keep the friendship. But i heard that he thinks she's weird because he knows she likes him. But me and him are friends even though we just met. Well what i'm saying is what should i do. I'm caught between my first boyfriend or my best friend.

wow... you have no idea how much you sound like me. This has happened to me during this summer. except a little different. you see, my best friend and I both liked this one guy. And they were going out for a while, then they broke up... then he started flirting with me and I was deciding... should I be caring more about my friend (dating her ex?) or having my first boyfriend? (same situation as you) and I was dumb enough to go out with him and after 5 days he dumped me saying he still liked my best friend. so take my advice- DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME!!!

friendship comes before relationship.

Now after that whole breaking up with me thing, I feel terrible because I'm not even speaking to my best friend anymore and also that guy. And I feel bad because my first boyfriend lasted for 5 days. I was already beginning to think that we weren't even going out because we didn't even kiss. we just held hands, hugged and talked.

my point is... you can't decide for her who she likes. You can't tell her that she's not allowed to like him because you called dibs. she's still going to like him no matter what you say.

I say, you keep you're cool. don't do anything right now and just go with the flow. Don't do anything stupid (like me) and rush to get your first boyfriend. All of my friends already got their first kiss and first boyfriend, when he asked me out, i was so eager I just said yes and it didn't turn out well.

So just keep being friends with your friend, and as for the guy... keep being friends with him. If you really like him, flirt with him and give him a signal that you're interested. Ask him one day "hey do you wanna hang out sometime? like a movie?" Just casually ask him and get to know him better. If you and him are going great, and you see that you're friend is getting jealous... try telling her that its his choice on who he likes, not hers. So its not your fault that he likes you.

If your friend is getting mad at you for going out with this guy, then he's not even worth it. remember- friendship before relationship. Friends are always going to last, but boyfriends come and go. I garentee you that you're going to be going out with like 100 different guys in your lifetime. So don't rush it unlike me.

I hope you make the right choice. Inbox me if you need anymore help. I'm here for you. =D
