How can I keep my hair straight all day?

Question Posted Saturday November 3 2007, 10:43 pm

I straighten my hair every night or every morning, but it still looks bad by the end of the day! Any ideas?

Make sure you have a good straightener. You don't have to go spend $300 on one, but get a quality one that doesn't suck.
The best I've ever used are:
-Remington Wet2Straight [or Wet2Style] but use them on DRY HAIR. Ottherwise you'll dammage your hair.
-any Solia straightener. You'll pay more for these but they also have better plates [less damage to your hair] and tend to last longer.

Keep in mind that humidity and/or hot weather will affect your hair, and no matter what you do to it, stick-straight hair in the middle of July in New England just isn't happening.

Anyways, use a shampoo that smoothes or moisturizes (you'll figure out for yourself what formulas work best on your own hair) and leave conditioner on for a few minutes. This helps to minimize damamge & keep your hair from drying out so much.

Use some sort of heat protecting stuff in your hair. I swear by Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. It's the most amazing product I have ever bought, and makes even the most insanely frizzy hair calm down. Another good thing to use is a heat protecting spray, like Tresseme.

Straighten your hair in small sections. Hair clips help a lot, or just put some of your hair in a ponytail as you straighten the bottom layers.

Lastly, use finishing spray/hairspray to help hold the style and keep frizz away.
