Am i offending him..?

Question Posted Saturday November 3 2007, 3:30 pm

Im in a relationship, and its pretty open.. because we dont call either bf and gf. we just kinda tell people were in a relationship. (he calls me his "almost, sorta, kinda, girlfriendish lady") i know that sounds weird. (infact he called me while writting this.. i tried to talk him into go talking to some girls he didnt know) He moved far away. as in about 2000 miles away.. and were not sure when he can come back.. so i try to tell him to date around or just TALK to other girls. dont ACT like im your girlfriend. Im not sure if maybe that offends him, as in i sound like im trying to get rid of him, or if he really just likes ME. I do it because i want him to have fun and be happy. I guess my question is.. do you think that might offend him? do you think he thinks that im trying to get rid of him? do you think that he might think its like a "go ahead" to go sleep with some other girls? I just want to know if im making a bad move on telling him its okay to try and flirt with other grirls and that he wont go too far..

ok i'll answer it from a guy's point of view, since i'm a guy and well, maybe you girls take things differently

if a girl asks me to not act like i'm her bf,or anything,it would rahter hurt me
yes,it's true,it is rather hurtful as it kinda feels like the girl is pushing him away and not even trying to be in a relationship or maybe try to make this seemingly open relationship work

it would also make him feel degraded,if he doesn't have good self esteem.meaning,he would take it that you are just "using" him in a way and treat him like a second hand/part time/leftover kinda bf gf relationship.and this would also make the situation worse.

my suggestion:you guys have to sit down and talk..serious talk, not the baby boo i love you kinda talk, but some serious talk about where you guys are going. Why? well because you both are confused about your direction and this is not healthy, even for an open relationship, trust me.

so just ask, if he wants to take things to the next level or if he just wants to remain static because the bottom line question of the day which WILL come someday is this: If you love each other, why not be together for real?

it's kinda of an all or nothing situation, but as i said, open relationships will end up to the bottomline question,so sit down and talk and everything will be fine.ask me for any more enquiries

p.s:just as a reminder, yes it does offend guys ,if he likes you ,he wants to be with you and it hurts him that you are pushing him away even though you do it for a differernt reason which he can't see because well...you guys haven't talked..so,talk! lol, good luck
