Gift Shop

Question Posted Wednesday October 31 2007, 5:19 pm

Can anyone tell me what to expect while working in a gift shop? I got that job volunteering at a hospital, and am not sure what to expect. My training begins tomorrow, basically, if you have any tips, that would be helpful. If not, that's fine too. =)

well, i work in the hospital, but not in that area.
i think it would be safe to expect to shelve cards and candies and the stuff the sell.
maybe be the cashier/assistant cashier.
stuff like that.
and when you work at the hospital always wear long pants and closed toe shoes [preferably not ballet flats.]

Expect a lot people there to buy mostly teddy bears and flowers. Be kind and sympathetic, since a lot of these people are going to be buying things for their sick loved ones. Make suggestions of certain bouquets, or which bear is most popular. Have fun!
