Mother/Daughter Relationship

Question Posted Tuesday October 30 2007, 3:48 pm

My mother recently promised a sum of money to my brother and I. Since then she has not produced it but has put it in an account that we can "check" on. I am not comfortable with this. Do you think she wants us to have the money or not? I have expressed my discomfort at "checking" on this account as we are all adults.(We do not have a healthy relationship to begin with)

Money can't replace love, but it can be a source of manipulation. Don't be pulled into this temptation and just tell her that you trust her with the account and appreciate the thought. What is important is that you are respectful of yourself and of her, while maintaining your boundaries.
