extremely nervous/anxious

Question Posted Monday October 22 2007, 7:41 pm

I'm a 15 year old girl. And whenever I have to be in a social situation ...something as simple as calling my 60 year old chemistry tutor..I FREAK out...I start to panic and get extremely nervous. What is wrong with me? :(

Social anxiety disorder. It's not something that's wrong with you. You just get anxious in social situations as you said.

"Social anxiety disorder, also called social phobia, is an anxiety disorder in which a person has an excessive and unreasonable fear of social situations. Anxiety (intense nervousness) and self-consciousness arise from a fear of being closely watched, judged and criticized by others."

Does that sound like you?
