If you don't want to flat out and say "mum, I've started my period", you can ask her where she keeps the pads. She will soon catch on to what you are asking.
If you've started developing, ask to go shopping for new underwear.
If you don't know what happens during puberty, a simple Google search will tell you everything you need to know.

bemyshoulder2crion answered Tuesday October 2 2007, 6:28 am: I had the same problem, and I know a lot of girls at first were very uncomfortable discussing all this stuff with their parents. Calmly you should just walk into a conversation with your mom in a private place. tell her you've seen the stuff at school on puberty and tell her you've started going through it. Ask her if she can buy you some pads. Most parents are good about not making nthose kinds of things too awkward. Good luck!
Hope this helps! [ bemyshoulder2crion's advice column | Ask bemyshoulder2crion A Question ]
