You have to be sure you are building his confidence at all times, not just when you two are alone. In front of friends show that you are proud to have him as your man, that will, in turn, make him feel better about himself. And help his confidence. Then, when it comes to you two being alone and you want to make him feel more comfortable with himself, start with touching him and don't go any further until you see he is comforatble with you just touching him. Then, for the next step, you can try giving him oral, and seeing if he is comfortable with that. Then of course, we all know what the next step would be lol. But make sure you try all of these things slowly, checking to see how comfortable he is before you move on to the next step.
