antidepressants/ serotonin syndrome

does anyone know about antidepressants and serotonin syndrome? i took paxil for the first time earlier and my heart is pounding and i have the chills and like cold clammy hands and i kinda twitch a little. it said heart pounding is a highly unlikely but rare side effect. im the type who is like eh i'll just rough it out. what do you know about this? is it really that bad?

It is a very rare illness, and those symptoms can also be caused by nerves (maybe from reading the crazy side-effects you can get from antidepressants). I wouldn't personally go to the doctor just yet, I'd probably see if my temperature was unusual (±2°F from 98.2°F). If you decide you do have serotonin syndrome, I recommend going to a hospital immediately, as it can be deadly.

In any case, stop taking the medicine and talk to your doctor, you shouldn't experience symptoms like that.
