Question Posted Sunday September 2 2007, 9:14 am

Whenever I want to go away for a long time, I put up an away message & then log off so it's at the Windows XP log in screen where you can pick what account you want to go on. For some reason when I go back in to the main account, my away message isn't there & I was just idle the whole time. Is there a way I can set it up so that my away message stays up the whole time?? Thanks!

when you log off of your desktop, to go to the log in screen of your computer, it automatically exits all windows that you leave open. so it exits your buddy list(if you left it open) and the window for your away message (when you exit that its the same as clicking "I'm Back"). so everything's closed but the computer still has you signed on. so on other people's buddy list it'll show up as you being online. and then after a while of not being there your status turns to idle.

You can keep your away message open by clicking the "switch users" button instead of the "log off" one.
this brings your computer to the log in screen but leaves any windows open for when you come back.
