Well sometimes paps' can be really uncomfortable. Just the whole situation. The awkwardness, of the procedure. Sometimes the clasps(equipment) the nurses/doctors use is smaller. I do know there a are certain sizes they could use to hold open the vagina. Maybe the clasps they used on you were too small and it wasn't comfortable. I've had to pap tests total. My first pap didn't hurt it was just weird. My second was very hurtful. I was sore for a little while.
But I'm just the pain is minor and you'll be alright. Ifnot consult with your doctor and exlain the situation.

The reason that Pap hurt is because it goes deeper in you than what a penis does.
The doctor inserts a tool called a speculum in your vagina which opens up your vaginal walls to reveal your cervix. They then take a cotton swab and clean your cervix before taking a sample of it by using a tiny brush, spatula or cotton swab.
So as you can see, it is an uncomfortable and sometimes painful test. Theres just no way around it.
I hope this helped.

xo, Whitney
