Idk, I have his number, and we saw each other for a month, and i think theres stil something between us 3 months after we split. And i see him around and he waves or nods at me like, and i want to get his attention again, start texting him again without sounding too interested..But i dont want him to think like 'Wtf she texting me for..?' So Something a bit flirty, maybe relates to tha past (or would that sound tacky?) ..

yes, sending him a pic out of the blue might be a lil weird unless you guys have been talking for a lil while. i personaly wouldnt send him a pic of his name bcause its his name and he might not know what to think about it, i would send something smaller like some inside joke you guys have together something that no one else would understand but him something that would make him laugh.
