need advice on how to tell someone that im sorry

ok well theres this girl that i want to tell that im sorry.
heres the situation: we met in math class, started to talk(via IM) and it was going really good. but then she told me she liked someone else that went to a different school and i felt akward around her. and then i just ignored her. i know it was the stupid thing the do. and now i feel guilty and want to start talking to her. but i want to tell her that im sorry for ignoring her and i dont know how to say it. i dont just want to say im sorry for ignoring you last year cause that doesnt have any meaning.
heres the question: how do i tell her that im sorry for ignoring her without just saying im sorry?

And hopefully she recognizes that you are going out of your way to apologize.
**Be honest girls like that when you come clean and are honest.
Tell her why you started ignoring her and that will help her understand why. And make it easier for her to forgive you!

Tell her:
Im sorry for ignoring you last year. I just wanted to apologize to you because i feel bad for ignoring you. I just felt akward when you told me "guy" liked you. (I know i was wrong.)--say that. that lets her know you know you did something wrong instead of just SORRY.
