I'm starting to break out all on my face so I'm going to the dermatologist soon. For those who went there how fast did your skin clear up from the medicines or products they told you to use? And what do they do when you go?

A couple days after I took the medicine and topical treatments they supplied; my skin started too clear up. However, I was lucky; for some it takes up to 2 weeks to see any results. Catching acne in its earlier stages is a good idea though to prevent scarring. All they do is basically take a look at the condition of your skin; and give you prescriptions so you can get them filled. It's pretty easy in and easy out. =] [ erin_xo's advice column | Ask erin_xo A Question ]
LM answered Friday August 3 2007, 6:54 pm: My skin started to clear up really quicky. If you get Retin-A, your skin will seem to get WORSE for a first couple days or so, but then it really starts to work and clears up your skin nicely. When you go, they'll probably do a full skin examination if it's your first time going t a derm. It's not a big deal to them, its over in a couple minutes if that, and prevents potential problems such as a melanoma. Most of the visit consists of a lot of questions, like your daily skincare regimen, family history of acne/skin problems like excema, etc.
