So, I got some sunburn a week ago. A couple of spots on my back & stomach are starting to peel. Well, I heard that if you peel, that spot where you peeled won't get tan for the rest of the summer, or it won't get tan ever again? Is that true? Can someone explain it to me? Also, what are the bad effects of peeling (besides the gross shedding skin thing) THANKS!<3
uisforukelele answered Wednesday August 1 2007, 11:35 pm: that's a myth, it can tan again. i say this from experience because my life is basically a peel fest. it's just a dead layer of skin coming off, and then there's a new layer under that that can tan/burn or whatever. i heard somewhere that if you've had like three blistering or peeling sunburns, then you are a little bit more likely to get skin cancer or something. it's not really a huge thing to worry about if you peel like once a summer though. just wear sunscreen. oh, and to speed up the peeling- exfoliate your back, and then put lotion/aloe vera on it.
