Belly Button Peircing

Question Posted Wednesday August 1 2007, 12:39 am

Ok, so when I was born my doctor spilled an acid on my belly button. There's a scar ony the top lip of it and I really want to get it peirced. I was reading through some of your questions and it seemed like you've had quite a few piercings so I hope you can help. First, will it hurt to get it pierced because its a scar? Second, do you think they will actually pierce it because I've had it for 14 years? I would ask a piercer, but my mom wouldn't take me. She said I can get it pierced for my birthday (15th) and I tried asking her to see if a piercer would look at it but she still thinks, after I've told her many times that's not what I was trying to do, is that I'm trying to get her to take me there then beg her to get it pierced right then and there. I also want to know soon and not wait till my birthday and find out that they can't pierce it and have my hopes crushed =/ If you'd like, I'll send you a picture of it, perhaps tomorrow. And I'm so sorry this is super long! But thanks soo much!

To be honest, a picture would be better, but I feel I have a rough idea of what it looks like for now.

I know you can pierce scars, but it all depends on whether the piercer is confident enough to do it. I don't mean it's a different procedure.. It will be exactly the same. But some piercers could be funny about it. Make sure you go to a reputable piercer.
Afterall, people who have already had belly button piercings whom for some reason let it close up, later go onto repierce it over the previous scar. and considering your scar is 14 years old, I don't think it'd be much of a problem.

Scars do tend to hurt a tad more when getting them pierced, due to scar tissue and the likes, but don't let that be a problem! Don't let the pain put you off. Your piercer will put you at ease about that anyway.

It's sad your mum won't let you see if you 100% can get pierced, but I have a feeling you'll be fine! :)
