I need money, and as much money as I can get.
what places in southern california (preferably in or around LA) will hire a repsonsible 14 year old, and actually pay me?
preferably, I would like to work with animals.
if there aren't animal jobs open, my second choice would be to work with children, or maybe senior citizens.
any suggestions??

You won't get payed for this, but you can go to your YMCA and ask if you can volunteer for them. I volunteered every Saturday for two hours for five weeks in their day care, and it helped me realize that I seriously dislike children.

You can try your local animal shelter(s). I live in San Diego and I work as a babysitter at the local Lutheran Church/High School. I go to the high school, so I've gotten references from my teachers for me to work as a babysitter. You could try applying as a teen babysitter, ask if they hire 14 year olds. You could also try some smaller restaurants and work as a bus girl, I wouldn't suggest trying to get a job at the bigger fast food chains like Burger King or McDonald's, I'm pretty sure they only hire teens who are 16.
